Who is Mel?
I grew up in the Kingdom of Eswatini and now call Cardiff home, creating pieces for dreamers in London and beyond.
How it started?
Fashion was never a business plan for me. It was an itch I couldn't stop scratching.
For years, I worked a regular nine-to-five — safe, steady, and slowly draining in a way that had nothing to do with being tired. The routine had a way of quietly flattening everything that made me feel like myself. So one day I stopped making excuses, stopped waiting for the "right time," and started Art2Sew.
The part I love most will never get old: watching someone try on a piece I've made and seeing their face shift. That small, quiet moment when they look in the mirror and see themselves a little differently. That's why I do this.

What is Art2Sew?
Art2Sew exists where elegance and personality meet, and neither one apologises for the other.
To me, elegance isn't about being prim. It's confidence. It's a garment that moves with you rather than wearing you. Thoughtful silhouettes, fabric with weight and presence, the kind of small details that are easy to miss and impossible to forget once you've seen them. The edge comes from what surprises you, a dramatic sleeve, a fantasy-inspired cut, a colour combination that shouldn't work until it does.

Who am I designing for?
The woman I design for lives a double life, because honestly, so do I.
In the daytime, she might be quiet and inward, curled up with a fantasy novel, losing herself in an opera. But come evening, she steps into herself fully: expressive, vibrant, unapologetically present. That duality is at the heart of everything I make. Pieces that hold both sides of her at once.
My background
I'm largely self-taught, which means curiosity has always been part of my craft. I studied clothing and textiles throughout school, and later completed a course with Central Saint Martins (UAL). But most of what I know has come from doing, experimenting, and saying yes before I felt entirely ready.
One project that shaped me: a friend asked me to make a Kurdish dress that honoured her culture. I studied the traditional shapes, the details, the meaning behind them, and created something that genuinely reflected her heritage. That kind of care, learning before creating, is how I approach every commission.
